Our Journey
A local centre with heart, care, and purpose.
Chard Horizons was created to give adults with learning difficulties a safe, friendly, and meaningful place to belong.
Our day centre is a family-run organisation, created by two brothers and a sister-in-law who share a passion for supporting adults with learning difficulties, additional needs, and people who benefit from a calm, encouraging environment.
The idea grew from an existing learning business in Somerset, where we had already been working closely with adults who benefit from supportive learning, meaningful activities, and positive daily routines.
In 2021, we opened our day centre in Chard after a local centre sadly closed during the COVID pandemic. This left many adults in the community without a regular place where they could feel engaged, supported, included, and part of something.
Chard Horizons was created to fill that gap — a welcoming place where people can build friendships, develop skills, enjoy activities, grow in confidence, and feel part of a community again.
